Project: Best Job In The World – Ben’s Blog
Client: Tourism Queensland
Site: www.islandreefjob.com
In January 2009 Tourism Queensland launched The Best Job in the World campaign that was delivered to market by TQ, Cummins Nitro and XCOM Media. ‘The Best Job in The World’ has become arguably one of the most talked about international marketing campaigns of all time.
The campaign became an overnight success as it set out on a global search for a ‘Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef.’ The job was real – a six-month contract with a salary package of $150,000 (AUD) and included duties such as ‘feeding the fish, cleaning the pool and delivering the mail’, all of which was recorded on a blog by the British winner Ben Southall. Ben is now an international ambassador for TQ and continues to blog about Queensland using the same website.
